The Popeye village

The movie about Popeye (starring Robin Williams in his first ever movie!) was shot here in Malta in 1980. Only for the movie a whole village was constructed. The village is still there, north-westwards on the island - unfortunately it’s not easy reachable.
It’s more something for the children then for the adults. In the different houses there are dolls of imaginary creatures, e.g. Dwarfs, Santa-Claus, etc. Every hour different shows are offered - they are nice and also funny but not that great.

Sliema
Sliema offers some swimming possibilities. The majority of the coast consists of rocks; however there are also small areas with sand. It is not an excellent beach; however it serves its purpose. Many tourists come for a short sun bath here.
Carnival in Malta
Carnivals in Malta, as we know them now, were first organized shortly after the Knights of St John came to the Island in 1535. The first that really broke out into the general jollification was probably the Carnival of 1560, when a massed Christian Armada was harbour-bound in Malta before sailing to Tripoli.
GOZO
Gozo has something to offer which Malta does not have. For example on one hand the Azure Window, a naturally formed arch on the coast. On the other hand the capital Victoria with the small romantic lanes and the large bastions, from which one has an excellent view of the whole of Gozo and parts of Malta and Comino. Then there is the beautiful beach, the Ramla Bay, and the historical temples of Ggantija. In addition the flair of the island and the inhabitants is a completely different one than in Malta.
