Sliema

Sliema

Sliema is not really an entertainment centre, like Paceville, but more likely a recreational city.

Shopping in Sliema

In Sliema you can find numerous shops for souvenirs, clothing, jewelers and other stuff. In the centre of Sliema lies the Plaza Shopping Mall, one of the largest (maybe even the largest) mall in Malta. Its easily reachable with the bus, a bus-stop is right in front of the entrance.

Harbor Cruise / Cruise around the Island

The Harbor Cruise and the Cruise around the Island start in the Sliema jetty. A Harbor Cruise takes between 1.30hrs and 3hrs and costs around €15 to €18 (depends on the season)!

Worth seeing in Gozo

Gozo has something to offer which Malta does not have. For example on one hand the Azure Window, a naturally formed arch on the coast. On the other hand the capital Victoria with the small romantic lanes and the large bastions, from which one has an excellent view of the whole of Gozo and parts of Malta and Comino. Then there is the beautiful beach, the Ramla Bay, and the historical temples of Ggantija. In addition the flair of the island and the inhabitants is a completely different one than in Malta.

Cottonera (Three Cities) - the ‘three cities‘: Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea

The word Cottonera describes the three cities: Vittoriosa (Birgu), Senglea (L‘Isla) and Cospicua (Bormla). The peninsula in the middle, Vittoriosa, was the only peninsula of the three peninsulas which was inhabited at the arrival of the Knights of St. John. In the past the city was called ‘Borgo del Castello‘. That‘s where the name Birgu comes from. Valletta didn‘t exist at that time.
