Sliema

Sliema is not really an entertainment centre, like Paceville, but more likely a recreational city.

Shopping in Sliema

In Sliema you can find numerous shops for souvenirs, clothing, jewelers and other stuff. In the centre of Sliema lies the Plaza Shopping Mall, one of the largest (maybe even the largest) mall in Malta. Its easily reachable with the bus, a bus-stop is right in front of the entrance.

Harbor Cruise / Cruise around the Island

The Harbor Cruise and the Cruise around the Island start in the Sliema jetty. A Harbor Cruise takes between 1.30hrs and 3hrs and costs around €15 to €18 (depends on the season)!

Bus: 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 68, 70, 627, 645, 652, 671The bus-system is very easy to understand. A bus always goes two ways, either to Valletta or from Valletta away. In front of the gate of Valletta there is a huge roundabout - that’s the main bus-terminus in Malta. Some buses are also directly linking two cities between the north and south, but most of the buses are stopping in Valletta.

There is a disco/bar/caf� in gozo(near xlendi). I dont know anymore whats it called, but its quite nice and also very big!! Do you know it?... Reply now >>

Sights in Birzebbugia

There isn’t much to see in Birzebbuga. Most of the sights, like the three batteries, are too old or collapsed. The church and the Pretty Bay (Ramla ta’Birzebbuga) are the two nicest attractions in Birzebbuga. However, compared with other churches in Malta it’s quite simple and small.

The Popeye village

The movie about Popeye (starring Robin Williams in his first ever movie!) was shot here in Malta in 1980. Only for the movie a whole village was constructed. The village is still there, north-westwards on the island - unfortunately it’s not easy reachable.

The Malta Fireworks Festival (29 - 30 April)

Following the success of the previous four editions of the Malta Fireworks Festival held in Grand Harbor, the Ministry for Tourism and Culture in association with the Malta Tourism Authority will present the second edition of the Malta International Fireworks Festival.
