Paradise Bay

The sandy beach at the Paradise Bay is unbelievably beautifully, however somewhat small. The rocky and untouched landscape offers pictorial scenery.

Gozo lies opposite of the beach, the view of which however is somewhat obstructed by the Gozo Channel ferry terminal. Directly on the beach there is a Snack-bar and a small restaurant. Prices are somewhat expensive.

Reaching the bay is not very easy, especially without a car. The only bus route passing in vicinity leads to the Gozo Channel ferry terminal, and from there one must go on foot the remaining way (1-2Km).

There is no bus route leading directly to the Paradise the Bay, however one can stop in the bus stop before the last (The bus then stops at the Cirkewwa terminus)

Bus: Routes to Cirkewwa (1 - 2km away from Paradise Bay): 45, 48, 452, 453, 645The bus-system is very easy to understand. A bus always goes two ways, either to Valletta or from Valletta away. In front of the gate of Valletta there is a huge roundabout - that’s the main bus-terminus in Malta. Some buses are also directly linking two cities between the north and south, but most of the buses are stopping in Valletta.

Winter in Malta

Malta is often described as a nice summer-country with sunshine, beaches and blue sky. However there is another side of Malta - the winter. For the first time you will feel winter coming in December and you have to endure it till February/March. January is the darkest and possibly coldest month in the year/winter. This month has the rainiest days, the least sunshine-hours and the lowest temperatures.

How is winter in Malta?

There is no frost or snow but mostly strong rain showers and winds. That’s not even so bad, but there are some other factors which make this worse.

Malta when it rains

It’s only raining very little during the summer in Malta. In winter therefore much more. In Malta there are two kinds of rain, no rain at all or very strong rain.

Electricity/Sockets in Malta

In Malta the sockets used are 3-pin, British standard. On the first gaze it might look quite confusing for people who are not used to it, but it isn’t. The on/off switch is on the upper right side. Obviously if you switch it off there is no electricity on the socket and vice-versa. In this case it is switched on. The socket has three holes.
